Laquan T. Lightfoot concentrates her legal practice in the areas of premises liability and premises security for one of the nation’s largest retailers. Laquan manages her own caseload and handles all aspects of her cases including discovery, motion practice and arbitration.

Prior to joining McDonnell & Associates, Laquan served as a Assistant District Attorney at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where she was assigned to Major Trials of the Southwest division and vigorously prosecuted numerous complex cases.

Laquan is a graduate of Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law. While in law school, Laquan was a member of both the Black Law Students Association and Drexel University’s Law School’s trial team. Laquan also served as the Mock Trial/Moot Court Coordinator of the Black Law Students Association and went on to serve as the Mock Trial Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region Black Law Students Association. Laquan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011 from Lafayette College in Easton, PA where she was on the Dean’s List.

Laquan has a strong sense of community and seizes every opportunity to serve in various capacities. She serves as a volunteer mock trial coach for the Black Law Students Association at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law. She serves as an Executive Board Member of Spectrum Health Services which was established to provide health and wellness services to inner city residents of Philadelphia regardless of their ability to pay. She also serves with the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Advancing Civic Education program (A.C.E). The A.C.E program brings practicing judges and attorneys together to supplement civics education to ninth-grade Philadelphia public school students.

As Assistant District Attorney, Laquan successfully prosecuted a man charged with armed robbery and conspiracy when he along with his co-defendant robbed a Pizza Hut delivery man of his vehicle and wallet. Laquan convinced a jury, without the live testimony of the victim and using cell phone analysis, that the defendant was without remorse and intentionally robbed the victim of his belongings. The jury returned a guilty verdict and the defendant was subsequently sentenced to prison.

Laquan successfully prosecuted a serial offender who robbed a victim and attempted to make purchases with a credit card taken from the victim. At the close of the trial, before closing arguments, the defendant pled guilty to Robbery, Conspiracy, Access Device Fraud and Forgery. This conviction constituted the defendant’s second strike and he was sentenced to 8-20 years in prison.

Laquan successfully prosecuted a violent offender, who robbed a local store owner at gunpoint. The victim could not identify the defendant as his face was concealed and the whole encounter lasted approximately two minutes. Laquan utilized fingerprint analysis in identifying the defendant. At the close of trial and before closing arguments, the defendant pled guilty to Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and other related offenses. The defendant was sentenced to 3-6 years in prison.
