Jessica A. Baker focuses her practice in the areas of premises liability and premises security liability for one of the nation’s largest retailers. Jessica manages her own caseload and handles all aspects of her cases including discovery, motion practice and arbitration.

Jessica has extensive litigation experience as a result of her prior position as an Assistant District Attorney in the Major Trials Division for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Jessica handled all aspects of her cases from pre-trial investigation through disposition including directing investigations, evaluating cases for charging decisions and preparing cases for presentment to the grand jury. Jessica has handled hundreds of bench trials, pre-trial motions, and jury trials to verdict for matters involving violent crime, complex narcotics investigations and firearms offenses. Through these prosecutions, Jessica has gained experience in presenting evidence in the areas of toxicology, DNA/trace evidence, ballistics arson/explosives, accident reconstruction and historical cell site analysis.

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College, majoring in Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctorate, at the Villanova University School of Law where she interned at the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and served as Vice-President of the Black Law Students Association.

As an alum of both Teach for America, where she taught third grade in Newark, NJ and New Jersey SEEDS (Scholars, Educators, Excellence, Dedication, Success), a non-profit organization that prepares high-achieving, low income students for admission to private high schools and colleges across the country, Jessica continues her advocacy for education as a New Jersey SEEDS Alumni Advocate.

Jessica successfully prosecuted an offender accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault and firearms charges. The defendant entered the victim’s home under the guise of a meet up from a popular dating website during which the victim was shot. After a lengthy investigation, Jessica was able to identify the defendant utilizing social media and historical cell site analysis. The jury returned a verdict of guilty and the defendant was sentenced to twelve- and one-half years to twenty-five years in prison.

Jessica successfully prosecuted a defendant for a strong-arm robbery that left the victim with permanent injuries. The jury returned a verdict of guilty and the defendant was sentenced to five to ten years in prison.

Jessica successfully prosecuted a defendant that committed a gun point robbery for firearms charges. Due to the untimely death of the victim, Jessica presented the case without the live witness testimony. The jury returned a verdict of guilty and the defendant was sentenced to three to six years in prison.
