Rachael focuses her legal practice in the areas of premises liability and premises security. Rachael handles cases in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in both state and federal court. Rachael manages her own caseload and handles all aspects of her cases including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and arbitrations.

Prior to joining McDonnell & Associates, Rachael worked for a mid-sized firm in Montgomery County, concentrating her practice in premises liability, motor vehicle liability and medical malpractice. Rachael worked on all aspects of litigation including discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation. Rachael also served as an arbitration panelist for Montgomery County compulsory arbitrations.

Prior to going into private practice, Rachael was the Manager of Legal Services at Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, a non-profit organization providing pro bono legal services to local artists and inventors. In addition to handling the business and financial aspects of running a non-profit, Rachael taught CLE –accredited courses to attorneys looking to volunteer for the organization. Rachael also gave various lectures and organized workshops and clinics for local artists, designers, and inventors on various arts and business-related legal topics.

Rachael earned her Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School. While in law school, she served as the Executive Articles Editor for the Notre Dame Journal of International and Comparative Law. She also served as both a brief writer and oralist for the Jessup International Moot Court team. Additionally, Rachael was a member of the Notre Dame Boxing Club and competed annually in the Baraka Bouts.

Rachael earned her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from the University of Connecticut in Political Science and International Relations.

Assisted in obtaining a compulsory non-suit at trial in Philadelphia County for a general contractor who was sued after plaintiff fell in the parking lot of a day care facility. Rachael successfully argued that the general contractor could not be held liable because he was not responsible for the maintenance or construction of the subject parking lot.

Obtained a defense verdict at arbitration in Delaware County for the administrator of an estate in a motor vehicle liability case. Rachael successfully argued that under the Dead Man’s Act, plaintiff could not testify against the decedent defendant and therefore failed to meet the burden of proof for negligence.

Obtained a defense verdict at arbitration in Montgomery County for a defendant in a motor vehicle liability case. Rachael successfully argued that the plaintiff failed to prove that the defendant was liable for injuries sustained by the passenger in defendant’s vehicle.

Obtained a Motion to Dismiss in Montgomery County for a landlord after a tenant sued the landlord for breach of contract, defamation, and negligence. The tenant appealed the order to dismiss the lawsuit and the appeal was quashed by the appellate court.

Rachael has taught various CLE-accredited training courses for local attorneys seeking to provide pro bono services to the non-profit organization, Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Rachael organized and facilitated a lecture and panel discussion, Idea to Reality: Securing the Innovation Ecosystem Statewide, Pennovation, April 18, 2017. The event showcased the PA Patent Program, which provides pro bono legal services to low-income inventors statewide.

Rachael organized and facilitated The Creative Entrepreneur Series, which was an NEA-funded program providing legal workshops for local artists:
