Peter Della Porta brings a wealth of trial and litigation experience to the firm. Peter focuses his practice in the areas of premises liability, product liability, premises security, and commercial transportation. He represents both individuals and corporate clients, including one of the nation’s largest retailers. Peter’s practice spans all facets of litigation, from pleadings and discovery to motion practice, arbitrations, and trial work. Before joining McDonnell & Associates, Peter served as an Assistant District Attorney for the City of Philadelphia, most recently within the Major Trials Unit. During his tenure, he managed a diverse caseload that included theft, narcotics sales, domestic violence, aggravated assault, and violations of the Uniform Firearms Act. Peter has successfully argued hundreds of pretrial and post-trial motions and has earned favorable verdicts in numerous bench and jury trials.
Additionally, Peter oversaw the Intermediate Punishment Program, a rehabilitative initiative aimed at treating criminal defendants with substance abuse issues. His role included guiding defendants toward recovery through a treatment-based approach.
Peter graduated Magna Cum Laude
from Vermont Law School in 2022. During his time at Vermont Law School, he was recognized on the Dean's List for six semesters and earned the Academic Award for Excellence in Criminal Law. He was an active member of the Vermont Law School Energy Clinic and participated in the 11th Annual National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition hosted by West Virginia University College of Law. Peter’s academic accomplishments also include receiving the Dean’s Merit Scholarship.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys traveling, exercising, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
