Joshua has been handling civil litigation matters since graduating from law school. He focuses his practice in the areas of premises liability, motor vehicle, and commercial litigation for individuals and corporate clients, including one of the nation’s largest retailers. Joshua handles cases in Pennsylvania State Court and Federal Court. He manages his own caseload and handles all aspects of his cases including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.

Prior to joining McDonnell & Associates, Joshua worked at a small boutique civil litigation firm where he handled personal injury matters. As an associate attorney, Joshua drafted legal documents including pleadings, discovery, pre- and post-trial motions, as well as settlement and mediation statements. Joshua appeared in a multitude of Pennsylvania Common Pleas Courts including those in Philadelphia, Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, Delaware, Chester, Westmoreland, and Schuylkill Counties, for the presentation and argument of motions, status conferences, arbitrations, and trials.

Joshua is a graduate of the Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he graduated as a fellow in the Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society. He also participated in Temple’s trial advocacy program, integrated transactional program, and the Wills for Heroes Pennsylvania program. Joshua graduated from the Pennsylvania State University’s Schreyer’s Honors College, Cum Laude in 2016 with a B.A. in English.

In his free time, Joshua enjoys traveling, learning to play the guitar, and spending time with friends and family.

In a Montgomery County matter, Joshua represented an injured individual who suffered significant injuries as a result of a slip and fall incident caused by an untreated icy condition on a stone walking path. Joshua successfully responded to a Motion for Summary Judgment involving the application of the Hills & Ridges doctrine and issues of notice. Summary judgment was denied, and Joshua subsequently secured a favorable arbitration award.

Joshua successfully secured favorable outcomes for clients in multiple motor vehicle accidents bound by the limited tort option under the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law by demonstrating the applicability of an enumerated exception to the limited tort option by arguing that the client had sustained a “serious bodily injury” as defined by said statute and caselaw.

Joshua has won many arbitrations and has had the opportunity to prepare a significant number of mediation and trial packages. Additionally, Joshua has secured favorable rulings on motions, both on written briefs and in argument.

As counsel for injured Plaintiffs, Joshua handled cases at nearly all stages of the civil litigation process, from meeting with prospective clients and investigating their potential personal injury claims to preparing for trial. He has experience handling a robust caseload of motor vehicle and premises liability matters.
